EMILY’S CAREER AS A REPETITEUR

Emily’s career as a repetiteur has taken her to opera houses and theatres all over the UK and United States.

Emily trained as a repetiteur at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the prestigious College-Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati. In the US Emily was on the music staff at Cincinnati Opera (Tosca, Un Ballo in Maschera, L’Étoile, Les Contes d’Hoffman), Kentucky Opera (Il Trovatore, Dialogues of the Carmelites, Samson et Dalila, Die Zauberflöte, Amahl and the Night Visitors, La Cenerentola), Portland Opera, (Hansel and Gretel), Opera Manhattan (Hansel and Gretel, Dido and Aeneas), and the Bay View Music Festival, where she was faculty coach and conductor.  

Previous work in the UK includes productions for British Youth Opera (The Magic Flute, Semele), Clonter Opera (Die Fledermaus), London Lyric Opera (Fidelio), and West End and touring productions for Opera Up Close (Don Giovanni, Tosca, The Barber of Seville, La Bohème). Emily has performed live on BBC Radio 3 as part of the In Tune programme.

Emily is repetiteur for the Youth Opera Company at the Royal Opera House.  In addition to assisting preparation of the children’s chorus in mainstage productions (Carmen, La Bohème) Emily has performed numerous shows in the Linbury Studio Theatre (Hot House, Gone Fishing, The Crackle).  She was also repetiteur for Garsington Opera’s commissioned community opera, Silver Birch.

Emily coaches singers from all walks of life, from principal singers of the world’s opera stages to actors, students and amateurs in the preparation of auditions, recordings and roles. For coaching in London please contact hello@emilyleather.co.uk
