COMPOSER
Emily has written two operas for young people which offer children with no previous training or experience the chance to perform alongside professional opera singers and musicians. Hedgehog’s Home was first commissioned by Istros Books in 2012 and premiered to sold out audiences at Conway Hall with Fitzjohn’s Primary School. It has since been produced at the Tabernacle Theatre with Honey Tongue Productions and had two productions by schools in Paris. Hot on the heels of the success of Hedgehog’s Home comes a very exciting new musical and theatrical delight.
THE FOOL OF THE WORLD
AND THE FLYING SHIP
Peter lives a simple life, chopping wood in the forest to make enough money to get by. It is a thankless task, for which he gets no thanks. Especially not from Sebastian and Marta, his spoilt brother and sister. When a royal proclamation is issued offering Princess Ruby’s hand in marriage, Sebastian and Marta immediately rush to ingratiate themselves into the Royal Court. When they don’t return, Peter sets out on a magical adventure all of his own.
With libretto by Susannah Pearse and directed by Andrew Miller, The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship is a brand new opera for young people which celebrates the power of friendship and the kindness of strangers.
Featuring three professional opera singers, a bucket load of fun roles for young people and all singing, all dancing chorus numbers, The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship will entertain and delight audiences of all ages.
Plus, did we mention?
There’s a FLYING SHIP!!!

“My favourite part was the solo because it made me more confident to act or sing in front of two hundred people or more”

“Operas aren’t my favourite things so I didn’t really jump at the thought. I stand corrected! Now I feel like doing it every week. Surprises jumped out at every corner and it was awesome”
